Guess what I did?

Got me 1st tattoo! And it's a big 'un.
Here's some pictures I took of me right after w/the bandages still on.
Big ol' goofy ol' smile. I literally just went in and whitened my teeth in that picture. My hand has all this black paint splatter on it still. I was such a spaz after I got it I'm surprised I didn't get run over crossing the street.
Tomorrow I'll take actual photos of it. But I realized I've never put a picture of myself up here, so here you go. Feast your eyes! The guy who did it was really lovely, his name is Mario Desa, and the shop, Chicago Tattoo, is really fun to be in, full of odd little knick knacks and things. It hurt some but mostly I'm in shock that I actually did it. They have a sign hanging over the door that says 'artists will be charged double' and it was literally meant for me.

Inter-species love

Human-orangutan ISL.
OK, it's literally pretending to eat and drink with her! Look how s/he is sitting!
So jealous of this kid. Orangutans are my favorite primate, what w/the perma-bedhead.Awww. Donkey protecting wolf!

Ummm.... ISL porn?
Wha?
And now s/he's feeding him/her?
And flight is possible w/this set-up?

This boy dove saved these bunnies that were slowly dying off in the next cage over.
He pulled them out and mothered them back to health.
BFFs
OK, how much do I love this picture?
And this snaggle-tooth?
I never imagined this was possible.
Pathetic= cute.
Monkey ISL
Baboon.
Orangutans. Did I mention they're my favorite primate?
ISL with one's potential meal.
Vintage ISL
Good god. It's just too much.

Guess what time of the month it is again?

If you guessed PMS time, high-five!

2 more

so I put this one up from yesterday:
Terrifying Angels. White Assemblage Bracelet.
Terrifying Angels. White Assemblage Bracelet.
It has that crazy MOP cufflink from here.
I finished and photographed this but I'm waiting to see if this one disc bead will hold up. It broke in half b/c I put too much pressure on it. I'm trying to glue the 2 halves back together but something tells me it might not work. I'm rough on my materials. Better they bust on me than when a buyer has them, that's for sure.
The first disc is the one that broke. You can sorta see the seam. These pictures look weird. The chain is my cheapanddirty version of a missficklemedia saffron chain.  Somehow mine ended up w/a greenish cast. Still, fun to try, and I never would have without the inspiration, thanks missfickle!

'nuthr thing

So the bracelets were a hit. Sold 'em both! I'd never made bracelets before. Maybe ages ago. Only cuffs. So I made another. I should make more, I didn't realize bracelets were popular. I always thought, so far from your face, why bother? But in fact it's the only jewelry the wearer can see. That's my deep thought for today.

Imna be in Wisconsin, celebrating my niece's 2nd bday tomorrow. Awwwww.
Imna reprint this here in case you didn't get a chance:

Also, I wanted to tell you guys, because I don't think I say it enough, thank you from the deepest depths of my entity.I respond to your comments w/my comments but some people don't re-read them after posting one, so I should say it here. It is so so so encouraging to get your sweet little comments w/all the unnecessary exclamation marks, the way we all seem to write on the internet for some reason.
The internet/handmade world is totally female dominated and you can see that clearly in how much we encourage each other and prop each other up. It seems like the 'fine art' gallery world is totally male dominated and people are secretive about their techniques and cliquish, snobby and competitive. Totally male, in many ways. Some galleries you can only get in by appointment or they make you ring to get in, not very welcoming. We, on the other hand, are like, "look at these pictures of my messy studio, let me tell you exactly how I made this..." We rock.
I don't know what I'd do w/o my gals. And one of us succeeding sure doesn't mean the rest of us can't also- we don't consider it a race w/only one or two winners. I don't think I'd even be doing this if it weren't for other blogger-crafters that set the example. I might never have tried art in my adult life. Or surely wouldn't have gotten this far w/o all the internet inspirations. I'd proly still be f*cking around w/my horrible paper collages I used to try to make.
Yesterday, I made my husband sit and listen while I read Jennifer/
SacredCake
's comment about holding her breath when she first saw that recent black necklace. I was all, "Robert!!! Did you hear that!!??!!! She was holding her breath! Isn't that amazing?" And he was laughing and agreeing that it was amazing.Every so often I tell a family member something like that, since they can't appreciate what I do on they're own, God love 'em, and it makes them happy and feel that whatever it is I'm up to, I must be doing well. And then I jump up and down, wiggle my rump and do a happy dance. Which makes them laugh.
