But there's more!

Marvels. Victorian Tribal Assemblage earrings with Gold Gilding.
Marvels.
As you can see, the foil is back. No one is safe.

I realize all these bits I thought of as pendants were just waiting to be made into earrings.

Freedom from Faith. Victorian Tribal Assemblage with Gilding.
Freedom from Faith.
OMG I actually wore these! People came to Mom's place for dinner, so I thought I'd wear some of my devices. Then I looked in the mirror and was all DAAAAMN! These are sexy!

So my nephew came to visit from California. We celebrated his 4th birthday.

Scratch at the Heart of Life. Vintage Antique Victorian Tribal Assemblage Earrings with Rhinestones.
Scratch at the Heart of Life.
Last time, he was all about airplanes, but the new obsession is rockets.

"I wanna be a rocketeer!" he declares.

Forest Storm. Antique Vintage Rustic Assemblage Dangles.
Forest Storm.
"Oh," says my mom, "what do rocketeers do?"

"Well," he answers, "they make rockets. Then they launch them. Then they watch them go into space.... And then they cry."

The Moon in Deeper Languidness. Ceramic Art Beads in White Tribal Assemblage Earrings.
The Moon in Deeper Languidness.
"Cry?" asks Mom, "Why do they cry?"

"Because they lost their rocket! They cry one tear."
He puts his finger on his cheek to illustrate.

A Foe of Sleep. Tribal Talisman Thai Egyptian Eye Earrings with Pearl.
A Foe of Sleep.
"Just one tear?" asks Mom.

"Yeah!" He nods vigorously,"that's why they're called rocket-tear."

!!!!!!

One Black Mystery. Salvaged metal riveted tribal amulets assemblage posts.
One Black Mystery.
At one point my dad asked him if he knew what the biggest planet in the solar system was.
"Jupiter!" he said without hesitation.
"OK, so do you know what the smallest is?"
"Abuelo.... there are so many things in outer space..."

One Black Mystery. Salvaged metal riveted tribal amulets assemblage posts.

Which shut dad right up, not unlike the time Marcela explained the waves.

One Night's Immortality. Gold foil gilded wood assemblage earrings with antique medals.
One Night's Immortality.
Also, when our cat Chiquita went "Me-re-re-re," David laughed and said, "Marinara sauce?" Which did sound like what she'd said!

And then I was reading the mail at my folk's place, and it was all for my dad. I was going, "Eduardo Rios, Eduardo Rios, Eduardo Rios, " and David-who only knows my dad as Abuelo- went "Underwater Rios?"
E-du-ar-do
Un-der-wa-ter
Ehh? Admit it, he's brilliant.

I refuse to believe these stories are true, no one can be that adorable! Also those earrings are MAGIC. Especially the forest ones UGH, there's such a ruined Georgian arcane vibe about them.

Loving all these earrings. Are those bits of driftwood? - Gorgeous.
Lone and Vast looks amazing - I liked the back too, in the picture you showed of it halfway finished.
That dinner party sounded like something out of an arty foreign film!!

You slay me with your talent. When I grow up I want to be just like you. Love the earrings AND the names you thoughtfully chose for each pair.

Ok. While I was putting one bead on a pin and then starring at it for three days wondering what to do with it next, you come up with these Cree a shuns! Well Yoda... Tanks for giving me something to study. It's nice that you are close to your family and are on speaking terms.

Another installment of beautiful stuff to look at. Your nephew sounds adorable too. When my nephew was that age, he wanted to be a ticket taker. My sister and brother in law (a physician and a lawyer) had him in a very expensive Kansas City private school (pre-school even). After a little questioning about just what a ticket taker did, we realized that he knew exactly what they did and that was what he wanted to be when he grew up. I told my sister that I bet she was proud to know that her money was going to have big returns. He is 25 now - he is NOT a ticket taker. But not all of us can live our dreams can we.

The foil adds such a beautiful highlight to your work, you have already engendered many copycats on Etsy I have seen recently. Count me in as one in the future too! David is adorable.. I just want to squeeze him.

I'm trying to remember the names of all the new earrings I like so I can tell you how great they are, but I keep forgetting what they are cuz the word "rocket-tear" with the mental picture of your nephew's little finger on his cheek leaves me simply with "awwww". So sweet.

Rocket-tear, so sweet. Your nephew sounds like a real cutie, love that age, they just come up with the funniest things.

Your new pieces are awesome as usual, my fav is A Foe of Sleep, I love those twisty pearlized glass drops. Did you make them?? I've looked all over etsy but can't find them. Those creations are all sexy, I'd wear all of those earrings...one pair at a time though.

OMG, I just discovered your blog and you are a hoot! And I am leaving that exclamation point.....so there. ;) I love your work; what creativity you exhibit.
Your nephew sounds like he follows your path of thinking, Rocket-tear, hahaha. Give him some beads and metal and see what he comes up with!

The dog and cat pic made me laugh out loud.
