The first one is a cover for the musical sheets for the most famous tango in the world. You know the one tune you think of when you think of tango? That was written by a Uruguayan medical student. And a Turkish friend told me that in Turkey they use it as their wedding march. Probably no one back home would even believe that.

The style of singing, the costumes and the levels upon levels of metaphor in the lyrics are so strange and unique. They come out of the Commedia dell' Arte tradition with Pierrot and Harlequin, since maybe half or more of all Uruguayans are of Italian descent. But it's veered off in its own freaky way. It's amazing.
